COVID-19: Update #7 -- New and Enhanced Salon Protocols

May 19, 2020

The government and WorkSafeBC have now announced the requirement of enhanced salon safety for the personal service industry in order to operate. I ask that you please be respectful of these new protocols as the safety of my guests, clients, other staff, myself and anyone entering the salon is extremely crucial and very, very important.

All regular cleaning procedures will be increased as well as the time between services to allow extra time to ensure every and all surfaces have been properly disinfected (door handles, doors, tables, work stations, beds, counters, electronics, etc). There will no longer be any fabric surfaces in the treatments rooms with the exception of hot towels for dermaplaning.

Please see and follow the protocols below before entering the salon:

  1. Stay home if you feel ill or show symptoms of sickness. There will be no exceptions. During this time, any cancellations specifically related to illness which are cancelled less than 24 hours to your appointment will not be charged a cancellation fee. If you arrive to your appointment and show symptoms of illness, you will be asked to leave and your appointment will be rescheduled.
  2. Wash your hands upon arrival. Please use the bathroom to wash your hands upon entering the salon. There will also be a "sanitation station" set up near the front desk which you can use to sanitize your hands and phone.
  3. Keep talking to a minimum. As I am working very close to your head and face, please keep talking to a bare minimum in order to prevent the spread of infection. Even with a mask on, air and moisture can escape through the mask if it is not properly fitted to the face.
  4. Wear a mask. Masks will be required by all clients. The one exception to this protocol will for dermaplaning services however you are still required to wear one into the shop. We are looking at being able to have masks for sale for your convenience and will hopefully have some in the near future. Unfortunately due to the supply and demand at this time, I will not be able to provide you with a disposable mask as I currently have very limited supply. If you would like to know where to purchase handmade reusable masks locally, please message me!
  5. Arrive on time for your appointment. Please ensure you arrive on time or only a few minutes prior to your appointment start time. As we will no longer have a seating area in the salon for the foreseeable future, we ask that you wait in your car until your appointment. If you arrive early and would like to see if I can take you earlier, you can text me at (604) 440-5578 to see if it is possible to start your appointment sooner.
  6. Come to your appointment alone. Do not attend your appointment with others.
  7. Bring your own blanket if you easily get cold. Unfortunately I will not be able tp provide you with a blanket at this time. Going into the summer months, we will have the AC going in the shop so please dress appropriately or bring a blanket if you think you may need one.
  8. Do not attend your appointment if you have traveled outside of Canada recently. Please follow the government's protocols in regards to returning to Canada after traveling internationally (self-isolating for 14 days).

Please understand that failure to follow any of these protocols may result in your appointment being rescheduled.

Thank you for patience and understanding!

COVID-19: Update #6 -- Reopening June 1st, 2020

May 19, 2020

The day has finally arrived! 😄

I am so happy to announce that I will be reopening as of June 1st, 2020 and taking appointments starting June 2nd!

I am currently waiting on a few more backordered supplies which I need in order to operate proficiently under the new enhanced health and safety guidelines released by WorkSafeBC. In the few following days, I will be doing another deep clean as well as set up the shop to prepare for your next visit.

All waitlisted clients: I will be booking you into the schedule by the end of this week in accordance to your waitlist position and preferences of days/times. Once booked in, please let me know if the day or time in which you are booked does not work for you and we can reschedule you or re-waitlist you if there is a time which you would like but it is currently not available. If you have not been added to the waitlist please message me to do so! If you had already previously booked for June and are not on the waitlist, I will be adjusting your appointment to a full set unless otherwise noted (you will receive a notification of this change).

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as I get the business and schedule organized for opening. I will be trying my best to juggle and schedule everyones appointments to the best of my ability.

I am so thankful for all the kind messages, support and positivity from you throughout this closure. I am SO excited to be able to see you again!

I am going to be sending out an additional email with the new and enhanced salon protocols.

Thank you and see you SOON!

COVID-19: Update #5 -- Opening Soon / Booking Update!

May 7, 2020

As per the provincial governments announcement yesterday, I am SO excited to let you all know I will be able to open soon! While the government has noted the personal service sector is in phase 2 (mid May onwards) of the 5 phases, there has not yet been a date announced for our sector to reopen. With this roadmap in place, sectors will be working with health officials, health inspectors and WorkSafe BC to strategize an opening plan. Until then, we will not have a set date. In the next coming days, I will update you as I hear more information. In a discussion this morning with beauty educators, it was mentioned that the personal service sector may be one of the last sectors in phase 2 to reopen. In any case, I will be updating you with any information I hear.

I have also temporary disabled my online booking service as to prevent new clients from booking at this time as my priority is to schedule in current clients. Until a date is announced for reopening, I will not be scheduling anyone in the system, so please feel free to message me with your desired day of the week and time(s) to be added to the waitlist.

Any previous bookings that are currently scheduled in June will be changed to full sets to ensure we have enough time scheduled. However if you desire, please message me to be added to the waitlist in the case that I am able to reopen before June 1st, 2020. Just a quick reminder that as of now all May bookings have been cancelled.

Miss you all greatly!

COVID-19: Update #4 -- Waitlist for Future Appointments

April 30, 2020

I just wanted to send out a quick update for you as we are now at the end of April. Of course with the ongoing current situation, non-essential businesses are still to remain closed. Do to this, I will be canceling all May appointments. If you are booked June onwards, I will keep your appointment scheduled for the meantime (fingers crossed!). However because of this, please do not re-book your cancelled appointment online, and instead email/text ([email protected], (604) 440-5578) me to be added to a waitlist. If you would like to book online appointments from June onwards, please feel free to do so! I will still keep my online booking available if you need to use this feature.

To be added to the waitlist, please message me with your:

  • Desired appointment day (of the week) and time
  • Secondary day(s)/time(s) option if your desired day/time is not available

  • If you are changing your service (e.g., if you normally get classic lashes but would like to do hybrid) please let me know so I can schedule you in accordingly. Otherwise I will book you in for your regular service :)
  • If you would like me to schedule recurring appointments following your initial appointment, please let me know.

Appointments being booked off the waitlist will be first-come first-serve according to the day and time you messaged me to be placed on the waitlist, so please message me as soon as you have a good idea of which day of the week and time works for you for your appointment. As soon as I get word of when salons are allowed to reopen, I will be booking everyone in off the waitlist in accordance to their waitlist position and their day/time request. I will be doing my best to accommodate everyone to make sure you get booked in for the day and time which you would like!

Hours of operation are:

Tuesday: 10am-6pm

COVID-19: Update #3 -- Closed Until Further Notice

April 4, 2020

I hope you and your families have all managed to keep well, physically and emotionally, during these tough times. It's hard to fathom how strange 2020 has been so far. I wanted to send out a big thank you for all the kind messages I have received over the past couple weeks. It truly means so much to me! Thank you for your love, kindness and support.

Although I am sure many of you are aware the province is still under a state of emergency, I wanted to update you regarding the temporary closure of my business. With no clear idea of when non-essential businesses will reopen, I unfortunately am going to cancel all April appointments. I will continue to send updates as time goes on. I am watching the news closely every day in order to gather some idea of to what extent this will continue.

To those of you who have taken advantage of the gift card promo, I just want to ensure that you are aware they do not expire and can be used whenever! Thank you so much for your purchases during these times. The gift card promotion ends on April 18th. Listed below is a link and the following promo codes for the selected amount:

A multitude of small businesses in Canada are suffering the devastating effects of this pandemic. Many do not have the means necessary to keep afloat during extensive closures and therefor will not resume operations once this is all over. Many are not eligible to receive subsidy. I am very thankful for all of you and the ongoing support I have received, as well as the ability to be able to return to work once this has all passed. I cannot wait to see you all in the future.

Please take care and stay healthy!

Maintaining Your Lash Health During Spa Closures

March 24, 2020

The uncertainty of when spas will reopen is something that I'm sure is on your mind. During these times it is important for you to maintain your lash health. Many of you may not be getting a fill in your usual timeframe -- this may mean letting your lashes grow out and shed on their own. Here are some suggestions to help you navigate this process:

  1. Do not pick your lashes. Picking can cause permanent damage to the follicle.
  2. Keep washing your lashes. While you may be inclined to preserve them as long as possible, be aware that it is dire to let your lashes shed as they normally would. Regular cleansing is so important for good lash health.
  3. Do not pile on the mascara. It may seem ideal to use mascara to fill in the 'gaps' of where your eyelash extensions once were, however using too much mascara can cause buildup in the lash line if it is not washed off properly. This will also make your extensions come out sooner. Eyeliner is a great way to mask gaps in the lash line.
  4. Do not, by any means, try to glue your lash extensions back on. This can cause permanent damage! Eyelash extension adhesive is a professional product and should not be used by those who are not trained. It can cause irritation to the skin and the off-gassing during the curing process can cause a chemical burn to the eyeball if the eye is not closed.

I hope these instructions will help you manage during this closure. I can't wait to get back to work and see all of your lovely lashes again!

COVID-19: Immediate Closure -- March 18th, 2020

March 18, 2020

It is with a heavy heart as I write this. As of March 18th, 2020, I unfortunately must temporarily suspend operations due to a recent announcement from the provincial government that all employees must stay at least 1-2 metres from other staff and customers. Due to the nature of this business, we unfortunately do not meet this criteria.

Everyone's health and safety is crucial to me, and I feel as though this is not something I am willing to compromise.

The current plan is to reopen April 7th, 2020, unless otherwise stated by the government. Please check our news and government websites for updates and please keep up with me on social media as we trek through this horrible pandemic.

Appointments between 3/18 and 4/06 will be automatically cancelled. I am so sorry for this inconvenience.

To rebook your appointment:

Please rebook online as soon as possible to secure your spot. Please select the correct style and length of time of your service. If you think you may need a full set at that time, please do book for that so we have the right time allotted and we can adjust accordingly if it is not needed.

If you need assistance with the above, please feel free to email me or send me a text message at 604-440-5578 and I will get back to you asap.

I have some great savings you can take advantage of for your next appointment! You can purchase e-gift cards here with the following promos:

50FOR40 is $10 off a $50 gift card

I appreciate all of you and the amazing support I have from each and every one of you. We are all in this together. The sooner we eradicate the virus, the sooner we can go back to our normal lives.

Please stay healthy and safe, everyone.

COVID-19: Update #2 -- Shortened Hours

March 17, 2020

I have made the decision to temporarily shorten hours for the remainder of the time I am able to work during this crisis. Hours Tuesday-Saturday will be variable and I may take on any new clients with caution during this time, although I would recommend new clients not book appointments at this time. Thank you for understanding.

COVID-19: Update #1

March 16, 2020

With all the concern around COVID-19 in Canada, I just wanted to ensure clients that I have not recently travelled or come into contact with anyone who I am aware is sick. My partner and I have been practicing social distancing. At this point, I still have the studio up and running and do not have any set plans to temporarily shut down operations. We are taking things day-by-day and will abide by federal regulations as they come. Again, if you are sick, have recently travelled, or have come into contact with someone you may believe is ill, PLEASE cancel or reschedule your appointment to a later date. Thank you!

Extra Availability: Saturdays (temporarily)

March 9, 2020

Beginning this month, I am temporarily picking up Saturdays (until I am able to work Mondays again -- Date TBD). I will notify my clients once the change over from Saturdays to Mondays occurs. Please take note that if you are intending on booking appointments on Saturdays, that they may not be available in the future.

COVID-19 and Illnesses

March 9th, 2020

In light of the recent concern regarding the Coronavirus outbreak, I wanted to discuss this topic, along with illness in general, and what it means for myself in relation to working with the public.

Safety and sanitation is a top priority for my clients and myself. Consistent sanitation of non-disposable items and instruments continues as follows:

  • Providing fresh towels for pillows/head pieces for each client
  • Sterilizing tools using CS20, followed by a 3 minute UV sterilization and finally a spray down with 70% isopropyl alcohol
  • Wipe down of work station using Lysol wipes and 70% isopropyl alcohol.

Additional steps which are taken to ensure a low chance of the spread of illness:

  • Single-use items disposed of in waste bin
  • Hand sanitizer and tissue for client use
  • Additional sanitation of high-touch items (pens, countertops, door handles, light switches, credit/debit machine, etc.)
  • Disposable gloves and masks used while performing medical treatments

  • Hand washing and anti-bacterial hand sanitizer used before and after each treatment

  • Washable mask with changeable filters used by myself during eyelash extension applications

In return I ask of my clients to please follow these guidelines incase of illness:

  • Do not come to your service if you are exhibiting signs of any sickness or illness including: cough, fever or difficulty breathing
  • Avoid touching doorknobs with your bare hands (use your elbow or sleeves)
  • Arrive early and wash your hands prior to service
  • Pay using apple pay or tap instead of using cash or inserting your card
  • Do not bring others with you to your appointment

If I were to exhibit any symptoms, the following measures will be taken:

  • Moving and cancelling appointments until a later date
  • Self-quarantine for 14 days if I were to contract the virus

In light of this outbreak, please be aware that cancellation fees will be waved due to illness or sickness for the time being.

Thank you for your understanding during this time! Please contact me as soon as possible if you need to move or reschedule your appointment(s).
